Chiropractic & Kids in Knoxville
When you think of your own childhood you may think of running around, racing your bike down the hill, jungle gyms, or wrestling with your siblings. All of these experiences are incredibly important for kids to have for physical and mental development in Knoxville. While there are numerous positive effects of play, they can also have long-term negative effects on our overall health. Most people consider spinal issues to be a "grown up problem". However, when considering the amount of physical activity we went through growing up, it is easy to add up the micro and macro traumas during childhood that landed us in those "adult" situations.
Repetitive micro and macro traumas that accumulate over the years lead to subluxations. A subluxation is a misalignment of one or more spinal bones causing pressure and irritation to your nervous system. Your nervous system is in control of all functions of your body, from telling your legs how to walk to digesting what you had for breakfast to coordinating your immune system's attack of the flu virus. When we consider this it becomes a lot more simple to see signs of a subluxation in kids.
More than likely you won't find your kids with neck or back pain to tip you off that there is something going on with their spine and nervous system. Kids are more likely to show signs that look like common childhood ailments. There is a very large and distinct difference between common and normal though. High blood pressure and heart disease are common health concerns in adults but we would all agree are not normal. These common childhood sicknesses can be reoccurring ear infections, bed wetting, asthma, allergies, constipation, diarrhea, ADD/ADHD, and even food allergies or sensitivities.
Whatever your child may be going through, it is important to have your family chiropractor take a look. The great news is when it comes to kids, they respond very quickly to chiropractic care compared to adults. Kids have had a lot less time to have a build up of stress in their nervous system making it a lot easier to correct and maintain. Proper correction and maintenance of healthy habits will set your child up for a life of opportunity!
Some parents may be skeptical to bring their child to a chiropractor thinking that adjustments will be too rough for them. Drs. Ryan and Kristin have received advanced training to be able to work with kids and only provide safe, gentle, and proven adjustments for your family.
