Sciatica

What causes Sciatica?

-Your sciatic nerve begins in your lower back and is formed by several nerve roots as they exit the spine.  The nerve runs through the buttock and down the back of the leg, eventually branching off into the smaller nerves that supply the leg, ankle and foot.

-Sciatica can be caused by many things such as: disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spinal misalignment (subluxation), degenerative disc disease, spondylolisthesis, piriformis syndrome, among others.

-Chiropractors use techniques that help restore the proper alignment of the spinal bones, which relieves pressure that was put on nerves.  Correcting subluxations can provide relief from sciatic pain.

-Patients under chiropractic care report a greater relief od pain, fewer pain days during recovery, quicker return to work and fewer drugs needed.
