Chiropractic & Infants

Hello Thrive Community!

If you have been following our Facebook and Instagram pages, or at the office have probably seen a big influx of little ones recently! From the sweet laughter of kids running up and down the halls, or maybe a fussy, uncomfortable infant in the next room. We love having them all at Thrive!

For many people, this can seem strange that kids would be getting adjusted. Certainly kids, let alone infants, don't have back pain! Most children do not suffer from back pain, neck pain, or headaches thankfully. What we have seen recently at Thrive is an influx of fussy, uncomfortable, sleepless babies. This can be extremely heart breaking for a new mom and dad to see their perfect new born struggle with basic things like eating, sleeping, and bowel movements.

There are a number of factors that all play a role in each of these functions and the nervous system controls and coordinates each of those functions! The nervous system is comprised of the brain, spinal cord, and spinal nerves that supply every muscle, tissue, and organ in the body. Misalignments of the spinal bones can put pressure and irritation on the nervous system leading to a decrease in overall body function. Unfortunately what that can mean for moms, dads, and little ones are sleepless nights and upset bellies.

Dr. Kristin and Dr. Ryan specialize in chiropractic care that focuses to relieve that stress from the nervous system so that the body can begin to heal and function the way it was designed to. The adjustment for a newborn infant looks very different from that of a full grown adult and some kids will sleep right through it! Dr. Kristin received extensive training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) to be able to provide the best care for our pediatric practice members.
